Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump following a gunman’s failed assassination attempt on the latter during a rally.

Musk also took to X to criticize the Secret Service for its apparent dropping of the ball, allowing a shooter to get into position outside the rally site and fire off several shots at the former president.

Musk has made no bones about his disagreement with President Joe Biden on a host of issues, however, it was not until recently that he began to offer Trump material support.

As previously relayed by The Dallas Express, Musk reportedly made a “sizeable” donation to a pro-Trump political action committee. It is unclear just how much money was given.

The endorsement will likely further bolster Trump’s momentum. Having survived the attempt on his life, the former president is heading to the Republican National Convention this week to officially secure the party’s nomination.

Here’s some of what the New York Post reported on the endorsement:

President Trump has a new super fan in billionaire Elon Musk, who officially endorsed him for president after Saturday’s assassination attempt, saying “the last time we had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt.”

“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X, which he owns, 30 minutes after Trump was shot at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump escaped serious injury, suffering a wound to his right ear, but one person was killed and another severely injured, according to police sources. The gunman was killed.

Musk also slammed the Secret Service for not thwarting the sniper, reposting a tweet from Jack Posobiec who asked “How was a sniper with a full rifle kit allowed to bear crawl onto the closest roof to a presidential nominee?”

“Extreme incompetence or it was deliberate,” Musk wrote. “Either way, the SS leadership must resign.”
