Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) recently attracted significant negative attention after an Instagram video went viral in which she criticized Republican senior adviser Stephen Miller’s height. During the video, she encouraged her audience to laugh at insecure men.

Ocasio-Cortez represents New York’s 14th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Miller is a political advisor who currently serves as the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and the United States Homeland Security Advisor.

The personal jabs from AOC, where she called Miller a “4’10 clown,” received a laugh from the adviser (who is listed as 5’10) as well as White House Communications Director Steven Cheung. During her livestream rant, Ocasio-Cortez criticized the administration’s immigration policies after focusing heavily on Miller’s appearance, a man she admits that she had never seen in public before.

“I’ve never seen that guy in real life, but he looks like he’s, like, 4’10…And he looks like he is angry about the fact that he’s 4’10”. And he looks like he is so mad that he is 4′10″ that he has taken that anger out at any other population possible,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“This is about insecure masculinity, and one of the best ways that you can dismantle a movement of insecure men is by making fun of them,” she added.

Miller fired back during an interview on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” earlier this week.

“Well, we knew that her brain didn’t work. Now we know that her eyes don’t work. So, she’s a mess, right? What a train wreck,” Miller said.

Cheung added his own quick quip back later that night on social media, writing, “Sounds like @AOC is often used to the shorter things in life.”

AOC, 35, replied online to a Fox clip where Miller is laughing at her livestream comments, saying, “I cannot believe they aired this and made him listen to it live. I am crying.”

However, the very next morning, she posted a short video claiming that her remarks weren’t meant to be body-shaming – something that she had previously been a loud advocate against.

“I want to express my love for the short king community. I don’t believe in body shaming. I am talking about how big or small someone is on the inside. They are spiritually six foot. If you’re a good dad, if you stand with women, if you’re not belittling immigrants, you’re like, you know, six three,” she said during her “apology” video, per Fox News.

AOC would cap off her rant about height by asking her audience, “I don’t know. Am I being problematic?”

The personal jabs from AOC are just another mile marker in the long-running feud between leftists and the Trump administration over immigration enforcement. Miller has been a key figure of the White House’s hardline policies, which officials credit with a 45% drop in illegal border crossings since January 2025.

The White House brushed off the exchange as “typical Washington gamesmanship,” while AOC’s office did not respond to requests for comment from The Dallas Express.
