Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw is facing backlash following a hot mic incident at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship Conference, where he threatened the life of political commentator Tucker Carlson.

The controversial remark from Crenshaw, captured on video by GB News, has gone viral and sparked some big reactions across social media.

The incident occurred during an interview with reporter Steven Edginton. The two discussed America’s foreign policy, including the war in Ukraine, and Crenshaw sharply criticized Carlson’s views on the matter. Crenshaw also dismissed Carlson’s stance on the war as uninformed, particularly his argument that U.S. resources could have been better spent addressing domestic issues like border security.

“Tucker doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He likes to visit Moscow and talk about how great the grocery stores are—I don’t take his advice seriously,” Crenshaw told GB News.

However, it was a comment made off-air after the interview ended that drew viral attention.

When Edginton jokingly asked Crenshaw if he had ever met Carlson, the congressman responded with, “If I ever meet him, I’ll f**king kill him,” before doubling down with, “No, seriously, I would kill him.”

The viral video of Crenshaw’s comment quickly made the rounds on social media. Despite the direct audio recorded in the video, Crenshaw maintains that no threat was made. He suggests that his comment was made in jest and was not meant to be taken seriously.

However, many more responses were not so forgiving of the hot mic comment.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) questioned Crenshaw, asking, “Did you just threaten to kill my friend @TuckerCarlson?” In response, Crenshaw said, “lol, no.”

Federalist CEO Sean Davis said via social media, “You know there’s a video of you saying otherwise, right?”

Elon Musk, reacting to the situation, asked, “Why is Crenshaw homicidal regarding Tucker?”

Tucker Carlson himself responded in a post to X, inviting Crenshaw to sit down for an interview.

The animosity between Crenshaw and Carlson is not new. For months, the two have exchanged verbal jabs over political differences.

Crenshaw has publicly derided Carlson as a “know-nothing elitist” and “mindless” contrarian who spins divisive narratives. Carlson, in turn, has mocked Crenshaw’s image as a “neocon” and frequently criticized his foreign policy positions, even labeling him “eye patch McCain” for his hawkish stances.

Despite the controversy, Crenshaw has remained steadfast in his political positions and re-election bid for 2026.

As the viral video continues circulating, many wonder how this latest incident will impact Crenshaw’s political career and standing within the broader conservative movement.
