North Texans are diving into National Taco Day on Tuesday, October 7, with a range of deals, freebies, and even tattoo-themed festivities at local and chain restaurants across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The foodie holiday, now permanently set for the first Tuesday of October, thanks to Taco Bell and the National Day Calendar, brings a festive “Taco Tuesday” vibe to the region.
“For years, we’ve celebrated National Taco Day on October 4th, but it’s always felt like there was a bigger opportunity to align it with something even more special — Taco Tuesday,” Marlo Anderson, founder of National Day Calendar, said in a news release. “Thanks to Taco Bell’s efforts, we’re excited to officially move National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October, creating the Taco Tuesday of all Taco Tuesdays.”
At Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, dine-in guests can add a crispy beef or chicken taco to their entrée for just $1.
Chuy’s, a Tex-Mex staple, offers a ground beef taco for $1 with any entrée, a $1 tequila or rum “Floater” shot for margaritas, and a free entrée for anyone dressed as a taco who posts a photo on social media with #ChuysTacoDay.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, founded in Fort Worth, keeps it straightforward with $2.50 Original Tacos featuring classic proteins like shredded chicken or ground beef, and $3.50 for premium options like grilled steak or shrimp, available all day.
Tacodeli, a local favorite, is giving loyalty members a free taco with no purchase required, and new members can sign up to claim the offer.
Torchy’s Tacos, born in Austin, provides rewards members a buy-one-get-one taco deal, with the free taco reward added to accounts after a Tuesday purchase.
Twin Peaks pairs $2 crispy tacos with $6 house margaritas all day, while Jack in the Box offers Jack Pack Rewards members two free tacos with a $1 purchase.
Taco Bell is rolling out multiple promotions, including $1 Cantina Chicken Soft Tacos for Rewards members at select hours (11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.), $5 off party packs via the app, and a chance for 100 fans to win a $160 gift card for a year’s worth of Taco Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Starting at 9 a.m. PDT, 500 limited-edition National Taco Day T-shirts are available for redemption.
For those seeking something bold, Velvet Taco’s Greenville Avenue location in Dallas hosts a pop-up with Rebel Muse Tattoo, offering free taco-themed tattoos from a flash sheet, with the first person to get the Velvet Taco logo tattoo winning free tacos for a year.
