House Chairman James Comer announced over the weekend that the Oversight Committee will ramp up its investigation into what he calls a “cover-up” of former President Joe Biden’s mental decline.
The oversight committee will also investigate the alleged use of an “autopen” to sign official White House documents, including pardons, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
According to a statement from the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, White House aides Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams played key roles in shielding Biden from public scrutiny, while Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, has yet to provide the committee with the requested testimony.
O’conner previously said that he felt we were fighting to keep Biden alive at the end of his last term.
Comer has gone on to accuse the White House of obstructing earlier investigative efforts by ignoring subpoenas and refusing to comply with requests for interview records, and audio records from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s specialized investigation.
“The American people deserve to know who was actually calling the shots in the Biden White House, because it wasn’t Joe Biden. His mental decline was obvious to anyone paying attention. But instead of being honest, the Biden Administration, Democrats in Congress, and the legacy media lied and covered it up,” Comer said. “They gaslit the American people while propping up a man who was unfit to lead.”
The committee’s renewed push comes after growing concern from Republicans and Democrats alike about Biden’s mental and physical abilities during his final months in office.
Comer also said that decisions made during that period, including controversial pardons like the one for his son Hunter Biden’s multiple felony charges, may not have been made with full mental awareness or acuity – let alone a real ink pen.
“Key decisions made in the final days of the Biden presidency, including using autopens to issue blanket pardons for the Biden Crime Family, must be fully examined. There are serious concerns that President Biden lacked the mental capacity to authorize those actions.” Comer said.
Comer pledged that beginning next week, anyone involved in what he described as a coordinated effort to deceive the public about Biden’s health would be “put on notice.”
As previously reported by DX, CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios Reporter Alex Thompson are releasing a book on Tuesday about the many worries that White House aides secretly kept from the public about Biden’s ailing health and the initiatives that his campaign team took to hide the former President’s true status.
This revelation could have much broader impacts on Biden’s administration after this week’s announcement of his cancer diagnosis.
“This is one of the greatest scandals of our generation and Americans are demanding answers,” Comer added.
