A Las Vegas anti-abortion activist has been taken into custody after scaling the Las Vegas Sphere.
Maison Des Champs, also known as “pro-life Spider-Man,” posted a video of himself at the top of the Las Vegas sphere after scaling the structure on the morning of February 7. Champs explained in the video that he scaled the building to raise money for a local homeless woman named Isabell, who is pregnant, directing viewers to a link in his bio to donate to help the woman.
Des Champs posted a following short reel on Facebook explaining that drone footage of his ascent would later be posted.
Local TV station KTNV broadcast from the ground while the activist was apparently still atop the sphere.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department began shutting down traffic on Koval and other roads near the sphere after Des Champs was spotted climbing the 366-foot tall structure, according to KTNV Las Vegas. Police detained multiple spectators who were milling about the structure.
The number of people detained and their involvement in the stunt is currently unknown.
Police confirmed that Des Champs was arrested at approximately 1:30 p.m. CST.
Sphere Entertainment has since given a statement, per KTNV Las Vegas:
“We are grateful to the local authorities for their support in this matter. The individuals involved are currently in the custody of LVMPD.”
