A global cyberattack has hit “several” U.S. government entities, CNN reported Thursday.
The attack on federal agencies comes on the heels of several state institutions reporting problems, according to the report.
CNN said the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency “is providing support to several federal agencies.”
MOVEit applications have been impacted, the agency’s executive assistant director said in a statement, referring to the software impacted.
“We are working urgently to understand impacts and ensure timely remediation,” Eric Goldstein told CNN.
He said he was unsure how many agencies have been hit or if Russian ransomware attackers were involved.
