A super political action committee (PAC) overseen by former John McCain and Mitt Romney adviser Brian Jones has been formed to support a presidential run by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Christie, who ran for the Republican nomination in 2016 when President Donald Trump won, has said he’s considering a run in 2024. He was a close Trump ally but has been critical of late. He also has slammed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who announced his presidential ambitions last week, in interviews.

McCain was the 2008 GOP presidential nominee against Barack Obama. Romney was the Republican candidate against Obama in 2012.

Jones told The New York Post on Tuesday that the super PAC will be called “Tell It Like It Is.”

“Governor Christie has proven he’s unafraid to tell it like it is and is willing to confront the hard truths that currently threaten the future of the Republican Party. Now more than ever, we need leaders that have the courage to say not what we want to hear, but what we need to hear,” Jones said in a statement, according to The Washington Examiner and The New York Times.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that he will announce his plans in “a week or two.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence also is considering a presidential campaign.
