Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, a development that has triggered growing speculation over whether the condition was known—and potentially concealed—during his presidency.

The announcement came in May 2025, though Biden is no longer in office. The revelation has stunned many observers, not simply because of the diagnosis, but because of the aggressive nature of the cancer and the fact that Biden, who underwent regular medical evaluations as president, appears to have evaded public disclosure of the condition until now.

Dr. Marc Siegel, a clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center and a Fox News contributor, expressed shock at the situation.

“This was found by physical examination by a prostate exam,” Siegel said said on Fox. “A lot of times we find an elevation in prostate-specific antigen, PSA, and then we go after it… I mean, he must have had the best possible care here. I’m a little taken aback that it’s this far advanced.”

Prostate cancer is typically detected through blood tests measuring prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, along with digital rectal exams and imaging. Given Biden’s position and presumed access to top-tier care, medical experts say it’s unlikely an aggressive form of the disease would have developed undetected.

The American Cancer Society explains that PSA testing, while a common tool for prostate cancer screening, is not foolproof. Elevated PSA levels can result from non-cancerous conditions like prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) or benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement of the prostate), which can lead to false positives. Additionally, some prostate cancers may not raise PSA levels enough to trigger concern, resulting in false negatives.

Still, Siegel and other physicians argue that in a man Biden’s age, with ongoing screenings, the likelihood of missing advanced disease is extremely low. That leads to the question: was the diagnosis known internally but kept from the public?

Adding to the controversy is the fact that no specific official—neither Biden’s personal physician nor the White House—has confirmed when the cancer was first detected. A vague statement released by Biden’s team simply noted that he was undergoing treatment and was expected to recover fully.

Political watchdogs are raising alarms, with some suggesting that if the diagnosis occurred during his presidency and was withheld, it could constitute a serious breach of public trust.

The timing of the diagnosis, the lack of clarity on when it was first detected, and the aggressive nature of the cancer are all factors that may warrant further scrutiny—not only from journalists but from Congress.

Whether this incident becomes a blip in the history books or opens the door to a broader investigation into presidential health transparency remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: many questions are now on the table—and they’re not going away quietly.
