The Department of War on Wednesday identified Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California, as the Army Reserve soldier killed during a March 1 drone attack in Kuwait.
Marzan died during an unmanned aircraft system attack at Port Shuaiba while supporting Operation Epic Fury, according to a Department of War announcement.
Marzan served in the Army Reserve and was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Des Moines, Iowa. Officials said investigators continue reviewing the incident.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, U.S. military officials confirmed that multiple American service members died during the March 1 drone attack on U.S. forces stationed in Kuwait during the opening phase of Operation Epic Fury.
The Pentagon said Iranian drone strikes targeted U.S. personnel and facilities in the region as tensions escalated following the start of the operation.
Officials had initially listed Marzan as “believed to be deceased,” but medical examiners later confirmed his identity.
U.S. military leaders have said the attack formed part of a broader series of Iranian strikes against American positions in the Middle East during the early phase of Operation Epic Fury.
The operation began earlier this month as U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes against Iranian missile infrastructure, naval assets, and military production facilities.
Officials have not released additional details about the March 1 attack as the investigation continues.
