The White House has opened applications for Americans interested in volunteering as Christmas decorators or holiday performers during the 2025 season.

First Lady Melania Trump announced Monday that citizens from all U.S. states and territories can apply through September 5 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

The initiative continues a longstanding White House tradition of involving public volunteers in holiday preparations. Selected participants will help transform the executive mansion into a winter showcase or entertain guests during December open houses.

Volunteer decorators must be at least 18 years old and available during the week of November 24-30. Each person must submit an individual application, as group submissions won’t be accepted.

Musical acts, including school bands, choirs, and holiday entertainers, can apply separately for performance slots. These showcases will occur throughout December during public tours.

The White House noted that all volunteers must cover their own travel, lodging, and personal expenses. Selected applicants will receive notification by October 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Interested volunteers can direct questions to [email protected]. Application forms are available through the White House website for both decorator and performer positions.
