The mother of a missing Dallas woman has vowed not to give up on finding her daughter more than a year after she went missing.

Mercedes Clement, 25, went missing on Oct. 11, 2020. She was seen on surveillance video walking through a Dallas apartment complex with a man whom Dallas police said is a person of interest.

It has been fourteen months since the 25-year-old went missing, and investigators are still searching for answers to her whereabouts.

Her family is hoping that somebody will come forward with information that will help find her.

Clement’s 6-year-old son said he wished for his mother’s safe return on his birthday. He turned six recently.

In a new interview with Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan, Clement’s mother described her daughter as a person who had “a huge heart of gold.”

“She was just always saving her money for the homeless people,” said Alicia Gazotti, Clement’s mother.

Gazotti told GMA that her daughter called some friends on the night she went missing telling one of them that she was scared before the line went dead.

“We just knew something was wrong,” Gazotti told GMA.

Strahan asked Gazotti what she would tell her daughter if she was listening during the interview.

“I am not giving up,” Gazotti responded. “I love you so much. I’m just gonna keep being strong. And if she’s feeling weak, just know that I am being strong.”

A detective from Dallas PD working the case told WFAA that the department has been following tips and has conducted searches in Wylie and Dallas.

The detective revealed that the department plans to conduct another search in an unspecified area in Dallas this Friday.
