A 23-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after her vehicle collided with an Aubrey Fire Department ambulance that was responding to an emergency call on U.S. Highway 377.

The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 424 and Fishtrap Road, where the ambulance was operating with emergency lights and sirens activated. The driver of the other vehicle, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as Dontarianna Neria Zatrice Boyd, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at Medical City Denton at 8:16 a.m.

Two passengers in Boyd’s vehicle were also transported to Medical City Denton with non-life-threatening injuries. The paramedics in the ambulance were unharmed and immediately provided medical care to the injured until additional emergency personnel arrived.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss,” city officials said in a statement, Fox 4 KDFW reported. “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and extend our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time.”
An outside police agency, with support from the Texas Department of Public Safety, is investigating the fatal crash, according to the city’s press release. The city of Aubrey stated it would not provide further statements about the incident at this time.
