Weather experts in North Texas are predicting a temporary increase in temperatures this week, with cooler weather expected to return over the weekend.

North Texans have been enjoying the fall weather over the last week, with autumn now officially in full swing. Temperatures dipped down, and parts of the region even got some much-needed rain as storms passed through the area, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

However, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth expects warmer temperatures over the next few days. Conditions are expected to remain sunny on Monday, with temperatures ranging from the high 80s to the low 90s across the metroplex.

“Clouds will return on Tuesday (October 10) though and this should knock a few degrees off of high temperatures. A few showers will spread through Central Texas by late in the day,” said the NWS on its website.

David Bonnette, a meteorologist with the NWS in Fort Worth, told The Dallas Express that the warmest days of this week are expected to be October 10 and October 12, with temperatures edging into the 90s.

“We’re gonna see some cloud cover move in on Wednesday, [which] should regulate temperatures some, but generally, we’re going to be in the 80s for much of this week,” said Bonnette.

He also said no rain or storms are expected to materialize in the metroplex. Showers and storms are expected to develop south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Weather experts expect autumn weather and “below normal temperatures” to return later this weekend. On Saturday, October 14, highs are expected to be in the low 70s. The day’s lows will be in the 50s.

Bonnette said El Nino could still bring much more precipitation to the area this year.

“You get a more active jet stream across the southern United States, and with the more active jet stream, you get more low-pressure systems and therefore more rainfall,” said Bonnette. “So, on average, El Nino years typically produce more rainfall down across the south.”
