Thursday’s rain gave way to clearing skies on Friday morning for most of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, although some neighborhoods north and east of Downtown Dallas could see another round of showers later in the day.

The forecast for Friday is sunny, with an expected high of 84 degrees and a low overnight of about 66, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

However, there is a 30% chance of scattered rain — mostly along the eastern I-30 corridor — in the late afternoon and early evening hours on Friday, per Jesse Hawila, a meteorologist at WFAA. The chance for strong to severe storms and hail is marginal. Areas along the Red River to the north of the metroplex may also see a shower or two on Friday evening, according to NWS.

Spring 2024 is headed for the record books as one of the top 10 wettest springs on record for the DFW, according to Hawila.

Over the weekend, muggy conditions and hotter temperatures will remind North Texans that summer is just around the corner. Highs are expected to be about seven degrees above the normal average for this time of year.

According to NWS, Saturday will be clear with a high of 92 degrees and an overnight low of about 70. Sunday will also be clear, with a high of about 93 degrees and an overnight low of 73.

However, temperatures will feel even warmer, with a heat index of 95-97 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
