Shocking surveillance shows a motorcyclist slamming into a local school bus on Tuesday, resulting in the death of the biker.

Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) released a statement that one of its school buses was en route to Riverside Middle School in the early morning of January 30 when a motorcyclist collided with the vehicle.

Footage of the incident acquired by NBC 5 DFW shows the moments before and after the collision.

The footage shows a bus turning left onto a nearby road as a motorcyclist suddenly comes into frame and collides with the bus’ back right side. The aftermath of the collision shows the flaming remains of the bike and its operator lying still nearby.

After the collision, the bus completed its turn onto the street before coming to a stop. Another motorcyclist then arrived and attempted to remove the wreckage of the bike from the rider. Fort Worth police confirmed that the bus remained on the scene, and FWISD officials confirmed that none of the bus occupants had been injured.

Medstar EMS teams and local police arrived, and emergency officials performed life-preserving measures on the rider. However, the rider was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses of the event described the “terrible” scene as it unfolded.

“It was just very heartbreaking,” said Charlene Dives, one witness, according to NBC 5. “Also seeing the kids get out of the bus, some of them crying, I can only imagine the trauma that they’re going to be going through.”

FWISD is currently working with officials to investigate the events behind the crash and is providing mental health services for those onboard the bus.

“All students arrived at campus safely,” said the district in the statement, per NBC 5. “Our crisis response team actively provided counseling to the students involved, with individual meetings to address their emotional needs.”

The identity of the deceased cyclist is currently unknown.

This incident is the most recent of several deadly collisions in the city of Fort Worth. A pair of wrong-way collisions in the early morning hours of January 25 both resulted in fatalities, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
