Local firefighters battled a large blaze on an 18-wheeler early Wednesday morning. The fire began after the truck collided with a nearby wall.
The Lewisville Fire Department reported that it had responded to the scene of an 18-wheeler fire on the northbound side of I-35 near Justin Road shortly before 8 a.m. on December 20.
Videos of the incident captured by travelers revealed multiple views of the fire, showing a large blaze over the truck and large plumes of black smoke.

“There are multiple fire trucks and police cars on scene handling this situation,” said the department on its website. “Traffic is being diverted and expect delays in your travel, but seeking an alternate route is highly recommended.”
This vehicle had been carrying a variety of home goods items when it crashed into a retaining wall and burst into flames due to its gas tank being ruptured, according to Fox 4 KDFW. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Officials were able to subdue the flames, and the truck driver was unharmed. No other injuries were reported from this incident. Hazmat crews aided with cleanup.
The circumstances behind the collision are unknown at this time.
This collision is one of several accidents in recent days. The Arlington Police Department responded to two reports of crashes occurring in the early morning hours of December 15, one of which had ended in a fatality, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
