Richardson police have arrested a 25-year-old man in the aggravated assault shooting of another man on Wednesday afternoon, while detectives investigate a second, unrelated shooting that occurred early Thursday along the same roadway.
Officers responded around 2 p.m. on March 18 to reports of gunfire at the intersection of W. Spring Valley Road and S. Coit Road. Witnesses said Erick Lajuane Foster II ran toward 33-year-old Ladarius Devonta Wheeler, caught up with him, and fired multiple shots.
Wheeler was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Foster fled but later surrendered to police and was charged with aggravated assault.
In a separate incident hours later, officers were called to the parking lot of the Waffle House at 120 W. Spring Valley Road shortly after 12:40 a.m. on March 19. Witnesses called 9-1-1 to report that a large group had gathered outside and a fight had broken out, and then gunfire erupted. One person was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a hospital in stable condition. The group scattered before the officers arrived.
The second shooting remains under investigation, with no arrests announced.
