Costco is expanding its footprint across North Texas with the opening of two new locations in Prosper and Weatherford.

The latest store additions continue the membership-only chain’s expansion worldwide. The company has 903 warehouse stores worldwide, 623 in the U.S. About half of the roughly 40 Costco stores in the Lone Star State are located in North Texas.

On March 14, Costco officially opened its doors at 5620 W. University Drive in Prosper, at the corner of University Drive and FM 1385. The following day, another Costco warehouse welcomed customers for the first time at 310 Center Point Road in Weatherford.

Commenting on the new Weatherford Costco, one reviewer on Google said the new location significantly reduces their commute to visit one of the bulk outlets.

“This location saves us at least 30 minutes travel one way from our home so that’s already a plus. There was a huge crowd (in some cases most likely new to Costco) and those folks were NOT very polite, so bring your patience when you visit. You’ll need it!! Most likely this location will “mellow” with time and I’m pretty sure the crowds will be more accommodating,” Mike W. wrote on March 18.

Like the Weatherford store, reviews of the Prosper location were largely positive.

“What a great selection! Opening day was great. The staff was busy but was still there to help with some questions I had. I’m so glad we finally have a Costco in Prosper!” a reviewer wrote about the Prosper location.

Another North Texas Costco is slated to open this summer. A new store in Allen is planned at the southeast corner of Stacy Road and State Highway 121.

The company’s website shows at least six stores opening nationwide this month. In addition to the two in North Texas, new stores are opening in Brentwood, CA; Genesee County, MI; Highland, CA; and Sharon, MA.
