Two people were killed in an accident on Thursday near the Collin County town of Nevada, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
A van and SUV collided at the intersection of County Road 539 and County Road 543, DPS told The Dallas Express. The accident occurred around 9:47 a.m. Thursday, the DPS said.
The van ran through a stop sign, causing the crash and killing a passenger inside, the sheriff’s office said. The van hit a utility pole after the collision.
The SUV slid into a ditch on impact and hit two construction workers. One was killed, and another was injured, the sheriff’s office said.
The DPS identified the deceased passenger as Rebecca Ridgdon, 66, of Tawakoni, and the deceased construction worker as Hilario Alvarado, 35 , of Dallas.
Two others were taken to a Plano hospital, DPS said.
