The weather across the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be windy, warm, and muggy on Wednesday, ahead of a cool front that will arrive in North Texas early Thursday morning.
Skies across the metroplex were overcast Wednesday morning, with winds of 15 mph gusting to 30 mph. There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the high temperature for the day is forecasted to reach 85 degrees.
As a cold front approaching from the northwest enters the area overnight, rain chances will increase to 80%, with a slight chance for severe thunderstorms and quarter-size hail between I-20 and the Red River Valley. Wind gusts from these thunderstorms could reach up to 60 mph. Temperatures will fall to a low of about 64 degrees. The threat of tornadoes is low, but not zero, according to WFAA.
The metroplex will be free of precipitation by 7 a.m. on Thursday. North Texas will see sunny skies in the afternoon and a high temperature of about 76 degrees, pleasant weather for Trick-or-Treating on Halloween.
Rain may return on Friday, with a 30% chance in the afternoon increasing to 50% overnight. High temperatures will reach about 80 degrees, with a low of around 66.
The chance for showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the weekend and into early next week, with a 50% or better chance of rain each day through Monday. The chance for precipitation drops to 40% on Tuesday.
Temperatures over the weekend will hover around the high 70s in the daytime to overnight lows in the mid-60s.
