North Texans will have a new place to cool off this summer starting this Memorial Day weekend.

Officials at Cedar Hill have announced that “The Lagoon” at Virginia Weaver Park will open this weekend. This new pool area will have its grand opening celebration, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, on May 27 from 12 to 2 p.m.

The grand opening will also feature a DJ performance and scheduled programming. The first 300 guests will be offered free giveaways and concession vouchers.

Although the “pre-admission advanced tickets” are already sold out for the grand opening event, the Cedar Hill City website states guests can still enjoy complimentary admission this Saturday, from 12-5 p.m., based on capacity limits.

The new public pool has nearly 10,000 square feet of water surface and includes a lazy river, a zero-depth entry pool, a lap swim pool, a three-turn slide, and more.

Guests will also have the opportunity to learn more about other offerings at the aquatic facility, including Zumba classes, swimming lessons, cabana rentals, and party packages.

Cedar Hill Mayor Stephen Mason commented on the opening of this new park.

“This project was highly anticipated and truly a collaboration between our city leaders and local community members. We had many members of our community help determine what this pool would look like and how it would best serve our city,” said Mason, according to WFAA.

“I have no doubt that this pool will make our citizens proud and will serve our area well for many years to come.”

Following the three-day Memorial Day weekend opening, the pool will be open for the summer season from June 3 through August 11, from Tuesday through Sunday. There are designated times for Open Swim, Senior Swim, Lap Swim, and Season Passholder Swim.

General admission tickets are $8, and seniors 55 and up pay $5. Cedar Hill residents receive a $3 discount off the general admission price, and Cedar Hill seniors get a $2 discount.

Guests can purchase a season pool pass for $60. Cedar Hill residents receive a $20 discount on season passes.
