Last year marked a watershed for The Dallas Express as we served as a local microcosm of the impact alternative, independent media had nationally.

The Dallas Express experienced explosive growth in readership that culminated with the most viral story in America in the last two weeks of 2024. The story detailed how Fort Worth Rep. Kay Granger, 82, a member of Congress for nearly  30 years, stopped showing up for votes in D.C. last July.

The Dallas Express discovered Granger was living full-time in an assisted living/memory care facility. Her district office had been shuttered, and constituents were left without representation from the House in Washington.

I was having dinner at The Rattlesnake in the Ritz Carlton, as I do several times a week, when my good friend AMUSE picked up the story on his X feed. Not long thereafter, “Libs of TikTok” shared it, and before I finished my meal, Elon Musk shared it himself.

And that’s when the chaos started…

I spent all of Christmas week doing a ton of media work, including an exclusive New York Post interview. The Post even used the word “Pulitzer” and described what an “epic” story we had broken.

It was also extensively covered by the New York Times, Washington Post, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Israel Times, Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth (really New Jersey) Star-Telegram, and every other major print, television, and digital outlet in this country and many others.

Well over 100 million views of that story have now occurred, and it started an important national conversation on the need for congressional term limits, particularly in light of Joe Biden, Diane Feinstein, Mitch McConnell, and other congressional elected officials staying in office until they no longer had the requisite mental capacity to do their jobs on behalf of their constituents.

And all of this was after Joe Rogan called The Dallas Express “the No. 1 newspaper in the universe” while using DX as a source for a discussion and proclaiming, “Everyone is reading it!”

Then there was Dallas HERO.

The entire Dallas political and media establishment organized in violent opposition to Dallas city charter amendments S, T & U (the HERO amendments).

The local media all recited the same scripted talking points, wrote editorial after editorial, and opposed HERO while publishing hit pieces on The Dallas Express, myself, and our publisher. We received the backlash simply because we assumed an editorial position supporting the citizen-led effort to restore some sanity to Dallas’ public safety policies and make the city government directly accountable to its own citizens should it violate state law or its own city ordinances—which it had done routinely for years.

And HERO won. YOU, the people, won. That’s why The Dallas Express is “The People’s Paper.”

As we saw in November’s election, the future for alternative, independent media has arrived. Meanwhile, the far-left legacy media abandoned TRUTH and became a propaganda arm of a single party.

The left-leaning, legacy media is responsible for amplifying a staggering amount of fake news in the past 8 years –  everything from Russiagate, Covid shutdowns/school closings/vaccine efficacy/origins, BLM riots (5 Dallas Police Officers murdered in our own streets), Kyle Rittenhouse, Biden family influence peddling, Ukraine, Trump impeachment 2, Hunter’s Biden’s laptop, January 6th and on and on and on.

It’s consequently no surprise that The Dallas Express is experiencing unprecedented growth while far-left local propaganda rags like the Dallas Morning News lost $3.4 million last quarter, and the Star-Telegram is down to 27,000 paid subscribers, printing three days a week and about to go bankrupt for a second time.

The Dallas Morning News went so far as to acknowledge their political bias in an extraordinary editorial last year.

The Dallas Express is proud to do it differently.

Attacks from our competitors and attempts at gaslighting are amusing, as are their apoplectic rants as their influence continues to disintegrate in the face of alternative outlets and platforms like X, The Dallas Express, and many others. They’re kicking and screaming like petulant children demanding your attention after having lied to, deceived, and manipulated you, the real news and the truth for so many years.

So welcome to the future, Dallas Express readers. This is YOUR paper, and the truth lives here.
