Six Flags Over Texas, the flagship park in the Six Flags chain, reopens on February 28 for its 2026 season, kicking off a yearlong 65th anniversary celebration backed by a multimillion-dollar investment in fresh attractions, entertainment, and infrastructure.
The updates aim to blend the park’s storied past with forward-looking innovations, including the debut of Tormenta Rampaging Run, a record-setting giga dive coaster slated to open later this year. Billed as the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest in its category, the more than 300-foot ride will shatter six world records and anchor a new Spanish village area called Rancho de la Tormenta, complete with a restaurant named Cocina de la Abuela in the park’s Spain section.
“As we celebrate 65 years of thrilling fun at Six Flags Over Texas, we are honored to share a season that reflects both our history and our future,” said Mark Boyer, park manager for Six Flags Over Texas. “This year represents a major investment in the guest experience, with improvements and entertainment that will showcase the park in new ways for our neighbors and guests from around the world.”
Several longstanding rides are getting refreshes, with enhanced theming, mechanics, and show features on attractions like Mr. Freeze, Batman, El Aserradero log flume, Runaway Mine Train, Silver Star Carousel, La Fiesta de las Tazas, Runaway Mountain, and the Six Flags and Texas Railroad.
To highlight its legacy, the park will unveil a 65th Anniversary Museum on Smith Street near JB’s Smokehouse later in the season, displaying memorabilia and historical exhibits. Visitors can also buy personalized engraved pavers starting at $125, to be installed near the Silver Star Carousel in Star Mall, with a ceremony planned for later this year.
A key upgrade is the full renovation of the Southern Palace Theatre, now the park’s top indoor venue, featuring new seating, advanced audio and lighting, improved flow and design, and expanded capacity for premium shows.
The entertainment roster expands significantly, featuring seven new productions and the revival of a popular one.
Highlights include the Gazillion Bubbles Show, a family-oriented bubble artistry spectacle with music, running March 14-22 at Southern Palace; The Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience, showcasing rescue dogs in stunts and comedy on weekends from April 3 to May 3 at the same theater; Western Daze, a marionette performance at the Texas Arcade on select summer days; Celebrate!, a musical tribute to six decades of hits in June at Southern Palace; Miss Cameo Kate’s Western Burle Q Revue, a spirited western musical at the Crazy Horse Saloon on select summer days; The Swelltones, a doo-wop group blending 1950s tunes with modern hits near Johnny Rockets on select summer days; and Brad Ross International Star Illusionist, a magic show from July 4 to August 9 on select days at Southern Palace. The fan-favorite Texas Justice returns on Texas Street with amplified stunts and effects in a new spot on select summer days.
The season’s event lineup starts with opening day on February 28, followed by Spring Break from March 12-22 with extra shows.
Summer brings Hurricane Harbor Arlington’s opening on May 16, including the new Splash Island, and daily operations starting on May 21. Star Spangled Nights on July 3-4 will feature fireworks and patriotic programming tied to the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
Fall runs from September 12 to November 1 with Fright Fest presented by Snickers, plus new exclusive entertainment on select days, alongside Tricks and Treats and Oktoberfest on weekends. The holiday stretch from November 21 to December 30 features Holiday in the Park with fresh entertainment on select days, capped by a New Year’s Eve event on December 31.
Dining options see additions like a Texas Corndogs stand replacing Texas Taco near Crazy Horse Saloon, serving hand-dipped corn dogs and spiral fries available on the Dining Pass; pull-a-part bread with cinnamon sugar at Los Dulces and Etienne’s; smoked chicken wings at JB’s Smokehouse, also on the Dining Pass; the Outlaw Dog with jalapeño and cheese sausage on the Dining Pass; and new treats at Smith Street Ice Cream Parlor, including sundaes, banana splits, handmade waffle cones and extreme milkshakes.
Broader improvements span ride operations, food services, entry areas, retail, landscaping, paint, and signage to boost overall efficiency and appeal.
