Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco is expected to begin construction of several operating and pre-operative rooms in February.

According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, the project includes the finish-out of one operating room and two pre-op rooms and the partial finish-out of another operating room. The estimated construction cost is $3.3 million, and the anticipated delivery date is January 2025.

Scottish Rite treats pediatric orthopedic conditions, related arthritic and neurological disorders, sports fractures and injuries, and dyslexia, according to its website. In addition to Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco, it operates Scottish Rite for Children in Dallas and Scottish Rite for Children at The Star, also in Frisco. Its service area covers Dallas, Collin, Denton, Grayson, Rockwall, Tarrant, Kaufman, and Ellis counties.

“Scottish Rite for Children researchers and physicians have generated more than 50 patents and discovered genes associated with orthopedic conditions,” according to a fact sheet from the hospital.

“There are currently 256 active research projects. Dallas and Frisco locations each have a state-of-the-art Movement Science Laboratory that uses premier equipment to evaluate and identify a child’s movement. Groundbreaking research allows our team to determine the best individualized treatment for each patient.”

Founded in 1921, Scottish Rite has treated almost 350,000 children, including through more than 68,200 outpatient clinic visits and 3,165 surgeries in fiscal year 2021, the company wrote in its 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment. It employs four orthopedic surgeons who have faculty appointments at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Dallas-based HKS is listed as the design firm on the state filing for the expansion project. Its health portfolio includes the Jane and John Justin Tower at Texas Health Fort Worth, Moody Center for Breast Health at Parkland Hospital, and the Marion Emergency Care Center at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
