First responders across Denton County gathered this week for an annual toy drive for Lewisville ISD families.
Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford of Lewisville hosted the annual Denton County First Responders Toy Drive from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. December 4, said Admin. Services Bureau Asst. Director Elizabeth Mayes to The Dallas Express.
Numerous responders attended, including the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, the Lewisville Police and Fire Departments, and the Flower Mound Police and Fire Departments.
“Bring a new unwrapped toy, spread some cheer, and help make Christmas brighter for the kids in our community,” the dealership posted on Facebook.
The Ford dealership off N. Stemmons Freeway hosted the event to collect new, unwrapped toys, cash, or gift cards for those ages 1 to 18 in Lewisville ISD’s Adopt An Angel gift program.
The Adopt An Angel program has a “digital adoption process,” according to the district’s website. Donors can drop off gifts at the Garden Ridge Elementary School from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. from December 5 to 12, or on December 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to the attention of the “angel coordinator.”
Event organizers advertised photos with Santa and Prancer, free food and drinks, and free Kona Ice.
“This was a planned community event involving multiple first responder agencies,” Mayes said.
After the event, residents reported dozens of police cars and fire trucks near S. Garden Ridge Boulevard and Main Street in Lewisville.

“There was no public safety threat associated with the activity,” Mayes said.
Flower Mound police officials said in a Facebook post that they were “happy to join” the toy drive alongside Mayor Cheryl Moore.
The sheriff’s office also celebrated the successful event – “Another fantastic year participating in the First Responder Denton County Toy Drive.”
