An overseas ice cream chain has debuted in the United States, starting with locations here in North Texas.
Dumont Creamery & Café from Hyderabad, India, now has two locations in the Metroplex. The first, which opened at the end of 2023, is in Frisco at 1951 FM 423. The second, which opened late last month, is located in Coppell at 1535 S. Belt Line Rd. #160.
“Listen up, flavor adventurers! Dumont’s Creamery & Cafe is your Willy Wonka’s flavor extravaganza, where every sip and scoop is a taste of pure magic.” reads the chain’s website.
The company, founded in 1999 by brothers Vivek and Bhaskar Inampudi, boasts nearly two dozen locations in Hyderabad alone. The ice cream chain’s presence in North Texas marks its first entry into the U.S. market.
Dumont’s website claims the company has created “over 250 unique flavors” and that its “state-of-the-art facility” churns out more than 2,000 liters of ice cream every hour.
While you can opt for more classic choices, Dumont offers unique ice cream flavors, like maple & cinnamon shortbread, mandarin orange sorbet, and mascarpone raspberry.
In addition to frozen treats, Dumont serves an array of bubble teas, like taro milk tea and horchata milk tea, and coffee, from Americano to flat white. They also have special drinks, like falooda, a milk shake made with vermicelli and rose syrup.
It is not necessarily surprising that Dumont chose North Texas to premiere its Indian-inspired flavors in the United States.
Dallas-Fort Worth boasts roughly 220,000 Indian Americans, many of whom are likely familiar with the brand. Over the past decade, the demographic has seen its presence in the Metroplex surge from 3.8% to 7.5% of the total population.
In recent years, several Indian restaurants and grocers have opened in the area. Earlier this year, The Dallas Express reported Hareli Fresh Market was working to open its second location in North Texas at Pradera in Prosper.
If all this talk of ice cream has you longing for a waffle cone, a single scoop can be had at Dumont’s for $4.
