The weather in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this week will closely mirror the sunny and hot conditions that persisted through the one previous, with temperatures forecast to hit the triple digits each day.
The high temperature on Monday is expected to top out at 100 degrees, with a heat index between 105 and 107 degrees, according to The National Weather Service. The overnight low will drop to about 80 degrees.
Tuesday’s weather will be nearly identical, with a high temperature of around 100 degrees and and low of around 80.
As the week progresses, a heat dome will build over the area, increasing temperatures by a few degrees in the middle of the week, as reported by CBS News First Alert Weather.
The high temperature is expected to hit 102 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday and will hover around the 103 to 104-degree mark for the remainder of the week. Overnight lows will drop to the low 80s each day.
The heat index for the latter part of the week will continue to range between 105 and 107 degrees. No precipitation is forecast for the week.
August is typically the hottest and driest month of the year in North Dallas, with precipitation averaging about 2.2 inches. On average, the high temperature hits the triple digits about 11 days out of the month, although this year may likely exceed the average. Five of the first 11 days of the month have already hit 100 degrees or higher temperatures, and the triple-digit highs are forecast to continue into next week.
