The developers behind a 50-acre mixed-use community in Haltom City plan to start construction of several shell warehouse buildings this spring.

According to state filings, the estimated construction cost of the properties is more than a combined $42.6 million. The buildings range from 136,406 square feet to 220,640 square feet, and the delivery dates have a range of December 2024 to February 2025.

H Mart is scheduled to open by the end of 2026 in the same development, The Dallas Express previously reported. The estimated construction cost of that project is $20 million, a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows.

“The 50-acre development will be constructed on the southeast corner at the intersection of Loop 820 and Beach St.,” according to a news release. “The frontage road of Loop 820 will front the supermarket and large retail shopping center. Distribution and logistics facilities will be located to the east and south of the shopping center.”

Based in New Jersey, H Mart “is the largest Asian supermarket chain in America and is the pioneer of Asian food in America,” according to its website. “H Mart is America’s premier Asian food destination and provides groceries and everyday essential needs as well as upscale products.”

Roughly 60 tenants, including retailers, restaurants, and distribution centers, will be built at the development.

“This mixed-use development was designed to create a balance between highly desired retail service needs and foundational job-creating industries,” according to the release. “A groundbreaking took place on January 18, 2024, with construction expected to take 18-20 months.”

The property will include bout 653,000 square feet of commercial space.

“We are particularly excited and humbled that H Mart has chosen to locate their seventh Texas store in our city,” Haltom City Mayor Dr. An Truong said in the release. “H Mart is one of the fastest growing grocery chains in America and Canada. … This entire development will create a significant number of jobs and tax revenue for our community.”

Founded in New York in 1982, H Mart operates more than 70 stores in 14 states.
