The first week in July is expected to bring triple-digit temperatures and fireworks to North Texas.

The Fourth of July will be hot and steamy, with rising humidity and the possibility of weekend storms, so take necessary precautions to keep your celebrations cool.

The heat index will remain between 100 and 110 degrees in Dallas-Fort Worth through the holiday, as Monday begins with a heat advisory and 61% humidity.

High temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will be near 102, with a heat index verging at 109. The evenings will cool to the low 80s.

We will see much the same on Wednesday and Thursday, with high temperatures up to 101 and evenings settling around 82.

South winds will gust up to 20 mph for the first half of the week but drop significantly on Friday at around 5 mph.

Friday offers a potential reprieve: there is a 20% chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. However, temperatures will still linger near 98 degrees. Saturday is expected to look much the same, with a 20% chance of showers and a high near 95 degrees. Low temperatures for the weekend will be in the upper 70s.

Sunday will see mostly sunny skies with a simmering high of 98.

The National Weather Service advises that as the temperature rises, it’s crucial to keep your body hydrated, take regular breaks when out in the heat, and dress in light-colored, loose-fitting attire to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
