The weather forecast for North Texas over the next several days includes both sunshine and the chance for scattered strong storms, some potentially severe.

Thursday starts off with mostly sunny skies and an expected high temperature of about 91 degrees, but about 30% of the metroplex could see showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening hours, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth. These scattered storms could be severe, with the potential to produce large hail, up to two inches in diameter or larger, and damaging winds, but the risk is considered slight, according to CBS News.

The NWS advises North Texans to have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings from 2 p.m. to midnight on Thursday.

Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny, with high temperatures in the low to mid-90s and overnight lows in the mid-70s.

The possibility of showers and thunderstorms returns to the forecast for Sunday, with a 40% chance of rain in the late afternoon, increasing to 70% in the overnight hours. Expect highs for the day of near 92 degrees and an overnight low of around 71.

Rain chances will continue into Monday, Memorial Day, with about 60% of the North Texas region likely to see showers and thunderstorms in the morning hours. The high for the day will only reach about 82 degrees. The forecast for Monday night includes a 40% chance of precipitation and a low of about 64 degrees.
