Great Wolf Lodge is rolling out a limited-time Ranch Milkshake that blends vanilla ice cream with ranch dressing, a move aimed at tapping into the condiment’s enduring popularity.
The sweet-and-tangy drink, garnished with crispy chicken, carrots, celery, whipped cream, and a sweet-salty lime rim, will be available from March 5 through May 20 at the chain’s 22 U.S. locations.
A spokesperson called it “snack and dessert in one,” adding that guests can sip it, gulp it, or use it as a dip for the chicken and vegetables on top.
The release coincides with National Ranch Day on March 10, when the shake will be priced at $3.10. The regular menu price is $7.99.
The unusual combination quickly sparked strong reactions on social media.
“I’m genuinely bothered this is not right,” one person posted on X, Food & Dining reported.
Another wrote, “That is wrong on every level in time and space.”
When a user commented, they were “Getting ready to puke now.” Great Wolf Lodge replied, “That ranch shake will do that to you; the vibes alone are enough to flip a stomach.”
To a simple “why?” the resort responded, “Honestly? That shake feels like chaos in a cup, ‘Why?!’ is the only correct reaction.”
Even R&B legend Dionne Warwick joined in, commenting on a related post, “Just in the kitchen wasting food.”
Social media reactions split sharply, Audacy reported, with some expressing disgust — “No why,” “absolutely not,” “I’m calling the cops” — and others showing curiosity: “WHY DO I WANT TO TRY THIS” and “give me 14 of them right now.”
One person suggested a practical middle ground, proposing to use it as a dip for pickles and French fries instead of drinking it straight.
Ranch remains one of the country’s top-selling condiments, and other brands have tested it in desserts before.
In 2023, Hidden Valley Ranch released an ice cream flavor, and ice cream maker Van Leeuwen previously collaborated on a Hidden Valley Ranch flavor.
The family-friendly resort chain, known for its indoor water parks, operates 22 locations nationwide, including one in Grapevine, Texas.
