A gasoline spill at Grapevine Lake that originated from a fuel tank at Scott’s Landing Marina has been cleaned up, according to environmental authorities.

An unknown amount of gasoline flowed into Grapevine Lake around 7:40 p.m. near the 2500 block of Oak Grove Loop South, according to Grapevine Fire Chief Darrell Brown, CBS News Texas reported. A 100 x 50-foot sheen of gasoline was visible on the lake’s surface when cleanup crews arrived.

The source of the leak was quickly located, and the tank’s valves were shut off to prevent further leakage into the lake.

Several local entities assisted in the cleanup efforts.

The Northeast Fire Department Association’s Hazardous Materials Team deployed containment booms to prevent the spread of the gasoline, while Grapevine’s Environmental Services Department, the Army Corps of Engineers, and a remediation company contracted by Scott’s Landing Marina helped clean up the spill.

X user Lauren Crawford posted, “FUEL SPILL: Clean up underway at Grapevine Lake after Grapevine Fire Department was called to a gasoline spill at Scott’s Landing Marina. Parking lot and ramp closed this morning.”

Another X user replied, “Hope they get it sorted quickly; we can’t have more messes!”

On Tuesday, agents from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality visited the area where the leak occurred and saw no visible evidence of the spill, CBS reported. The fuel tank appeared to be in good working order at that time.
