In the heart of Roanoke, Texas, Oak St. Cafe stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and community spirit.
Owned by Jimmy Pollozani, a Fort Worth Police Department officer, and partners, the cafe opened its doors with a commitment to quality service and giving back to the community. Now, Pollozani and his team are not just serving meals – they’re giving back to local families in need.
Pollozani’s journey in the restaurant world began with Cafe Republic in North Fort Worth. After that successful run, he and the Oak St. Cafe team transitioned to the new spot at 309 S. Oak St. in Roanoke, eager to continue building on that foundation and community connection.
What sets Oak St. Cafe apart is its deep-rooted dedication to community initiatives. For the past several years, Pollozani and the Oak Street crew have partnered with supporters to give back to HOPE Farm. This Fort Worth-based nonprofit guides at-risk boys, often growing up without positive male role models in tough neighborhoods, to become Christ-centered men of integrity.
To celebrate the resilience of mothers and show appreciation for those who raised them, Oak St. Cafe is hosting its annual HOPE Farm Mother and Son Date Night on February 12, 2026. This will mark the 6th annual Mother and Son Date Night.
When asked about the importance of the event, Pollazoni said, “You know, these kids live in certain zip codes that are pretty tough neighborhoods to grow up in, and these kids take the initiative to better their lives without having any father figure in their life – to work hard to be successful. I mean, these kids are a broad range of success stories that could have easily fell into a trap in the communities that they lived in. But they chose the route of trying to do the best they can.”
“We just wanted to give them back a little reward to thank their mothers for raising such great men that are going to be productive members of our society. And, you know, just a little small token of appreciation for these families, and to make the mothers feel special on one day,” Pollazoni added.
Looking ahead, the Oak St. Cafe plans to extend its gratitude to first responders in Roanoke.
Pollozani told DX that he and his partners are aiming to provide holiday meals for first responders sometime in late 2026, “to show our appreciation for them and let them know that… we’ve got their back. We support them as a local business.”
The menu at Oak St. Cafe focuses on classic, made-from-scratch dishes, with breakfast favorites like banana nut pancakes alongside a wide variety of brunch options. For customers, however, Oak St. Cafe isn’t just a place to eat – it’s a hub for connection and compassion.
