On Tuesday, the Frisco City Council approved the same overall property tax rate for fiscal year 2026 as for the previous year, although the portion for Maintenance and Operations has increased slightly.
The overall property tax rate per $100 will remain at .425517. The Operating Funds portion of the tax rate will increase from .283406 per $100 of valuation to .292775. The Interest and Sinking (I&S) Fund, which is used to pay the principal and interest on the city’s debts, will see its rate decrease from .142111 per $100 valuation in 2025 to .132742 in 2026.
Even though the overall property tax rate remains the same, the city is required under state law to notify residents when a portion of the rate increases, which the city did in a posting on its website on September 17. Another posting on September 19 clarified that the overall property tax rate had not changed.
In June, the Frisco City Council approved an increase in the city’s homestead exemption from 15% to 20%, which is the maximum allowed by law. Officials estimate that homeowners will save an average of about $120 on their property tax bill due to the increased exemption.
