This weekend, the city of Frisco will welcome a vibrant new addition to its landscape as Kaleidoscope Park opens to the public for the first time.
The new 5.7-acre park and events center will host a grand opening celebration on October 5 and 6, featuring a diverse lineup of activities and concerts designed for visitors of all ages.
The park’s first scheduled activity kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday with a yoga session led by local health and wellness club Hunni Duoe. From there, Kaleidoscope Park will then transform into a family-friendly festival, complete with lawn games, face painting, and a petting zoo. The new Sci-Tech Discovery Center will also host a science demonstration on the main stage at 9 a.m., according to the Frisco City website.
The heart of the weekend’s festivities will be the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday. The park’s executive director, Shawn Jackson will host the event, which will feature Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney and renowned artist Janet Echelman. Echelman, whose aerial sculpture, “Butterfly Rest Stop,” serves as the park’s centerpiece, will offer “mini-talks” throughout the day, sharing some insights into her creative process.
After the ceremony, the family stage will feature a magic show, followed by a concert by the Emerald City All-Stars at 7 p.m. A drone show will cap off the day’s activities at 9 p.m.
Sunday events will start with a morning meditation session at 10 a.m. Attendees can then enjoy performances by the Plano Symphony Orchestra and the Frisco Symphony Orchestra, as well as a variety of cultural acts, including dance performances from the Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School. The Lone Star Circus will also take the stage on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Kaleidoscope Park is the centerpiece of Hall Park, a 162-acre office park campus that is evolving into a mixed-use community that will include a hotel, multiple eateries, and luxury apartments. A 19-story luxury residential tower, The Monarch, opened on the campus last year.
The development of Kaleidoscope Park is the result of a collaboration between the city and the Hall Group, which has committed $7 billion for the revitalization of Hall Park over the next twenty years, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Jackson expressed his gratitude to the many collaborators involved in bringing Kaleidoscope Park to life.
“This Grand Opening celebration is the culmination of years of work, not only by the Kaleidoscope Park team, but by our partners at Hall Park, the City of Frisco and Communities Foundation of Texas.”
“We want Kaleidoscope Park to be a destination for North Texas and beyond for now and for generations to come. We look forward to creating dynamic programming and events for the entire community,” he added.
