Frisco residents won’t face late fees or utility shutoffs after a ransomware attack hindered the city’s payment processor last week.
The cyberattack on BridgePay Network Solutions has left some customers unable to pay water bills online since February 6.
The service disruption affects thousands of Frisco households who rely on the online portal for monthly utility payments. With no timeline for restoration, city officials scrambled to implement alternative payment methods while reassuring residents about data security.
BridgePay reported “there is no evidence credit card data was accessed or compromised,” according to a City of Frisco press release. The company also confirmed that no city data or applications were breached in the attack.
The ransomware’s impact extends beyond the payment portal. Frisco’s Interactive Voice Response phone system cannot process credit or debit card transactions, further limiting residents’ payment options.
City officials suspended late fees and shutoffs while working on temporary solutions.
Residents can still pay bills via direct bank transfer, in person at City Hall, or by traditional mail.
The Customer Service Lobby at City Hall remains open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A payment drop box behind the George Purefoy Municipal Center at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd offers after-hours convenience.
Mailed payments should go to P.O. Box 2730, Frisco, TX 75034. The city hasn’t announced when online services might resume.
BridgePay’s nationwide outage highlights growing cybersecurity threats to municipal infrastructure. The attack disrupted services across multiple cities, though the full scope remains unclear.
Frisco officials apologized for the inconvenience while emphasizing that customer data remains secure.
