A teen girl from Flower Mound has died after a truck hit her while crossing the street.

After a truck struck a 14-year-old girl, officers with the Flower Mound Police Department responded around 3:45 p.m. December 2, according to a press release. Responders brought the victim to the hospital, where she died.

“The investigation into the crash is ongoing,” wrote Flower Mound police officials.

The driver of a 2020 Chevy pickup was stopped, facing south at the intersection of Valley Ridge Boulevard and Browning Drive – a normally quiet suburban neighborhood. When the girl began crossing the street, the truck reportedly hit her.

The driver was a 60-year-old from Lewisville, who was uninjured and stayed at the scene, according to the release. Members of the Flower Mound Fire Department brought the girl to Medical City Denton.

The victim was Isha Mishra, who died in the hospital at 4:22 p.m. that day, according to the medical examiner’s records. Officials ruled her manner of death an accident.

Flower Mound police closed the roads around the scene for an investigation by 4:41 p.m. that day. They reopened the roads by 6:12 p.m.

Mishra was a ninth-grade student at Marcus High School, according to WFAA.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not be sharing further personal information,” Lewisville ISD officials said. “Our crisis counseling team is available to support students and staff as they process this news.”

Just days earlier, the Texas Department of Public Safety cracked down on unsafe driving over Thanksgiving weekend, as The Dallas Express reported. As Christmas approaches, officials are warning drivers to take extra precautions during the busy season.

Two cars crashed on I-30 in Arlington in late November, killing one and injuring another, as The Dallas Express also reported. In October, an officer with the Garland Police Department struck and killed a man who was stopped on the road in the early morning hours. Earlier that month, two SUVs crashed at a busy Plano intersection, killing one pedestrian and injuring another.
