California-based Fatburger will open its third restaurant in Denton County this summer, according to a state filing.

Owned by FAT Brands, the Denton restaurant is scheduled to open in June at 1607 Eagle Drive near the University of North Texas. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows the estimated construction cost of the 2,582-square-foot project is $300,000.

The Fatburger menu includes customized burgers “with everything from bacon and eggs to chili and onion rings,” according to an October 2023 news release. It also features Fat and Skinny Fries, sweet potato fries, made-from-scratch onion rings, hand-breaded chicken sandwiches, and hand-scooped milkshakes.

Founded in 1947 in Los Angeles by Lovie Yancey, Fatburger derives its name from the concept of creating “a big burger with everything on it.” FAT Brands boasts 17 other restaurant concepts, including Buffalo’s Cafe and Express, Marble Slab Creamery, Fazoli’s, Round Table Pizza, and Elevation Burger. The publicly traded company franchises and owns more than 2,300 operations worldwide.

Fatburger opened a first-of-its-kind co-branded Fatburger and Round Table Pizza restaurant in October in Bartonville, Texas. The new concept restaurant, a full-service, full-bar casual diner, is located at 3701 FM 407, Suite 600. Its other restaurants in North Texas are in North Richland Hills, Arlington, Plano, Sanger, Garland, and Allen.

Denton-based Nelson Morgan Architects is listed as the design firm on the filing. Its portfolio in North Texas includes the Denton Municipal Electric Administration Building, Bartonville Water Supply, and Paramount Cardiovascular Associates in Denton.
