The weather has been temperamental this season, with unexpected highs and lows.
In July, the temperatures have been noticeably unpredictable. On July 29, we finally experienced a high temperature that was within the normal range for the first time in almost two weeks. On July 17, the metroplex had unusually cool high temperatures, only reaching the 80s, which is uncommon for Texas in the summer.
DFW, get ready; we have entered the hottest part of the summer.
Weather forecasts predict high temperatures will persist throughout the week, with daytime temperatures expected to reach or surpass 100.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity has led to the issuance of a Heat Advisory for most of North Texas. This advisory may be extended on a daily basis throughout the week. Heat Advisories are issued when the heat index values range between 105 and 110 during the afternoon, per WFAA.
Temperatures will gradually increase throughout the week. Tuesday will have a high of 98, Wednesday 99, Thursday 100, and Friday 102. There is a 19% chance of rain on Saturday, resulting in more clouds and a decrease in the high temperature to 100. Sunday will be the coolest day we’ll see this week, with a high of 99 and a 14% chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel.
In times of heat advisories, the National Weather Service advises that it’s crucial to take extra care.
Extra care involves ensuring that kids and pets are never left unattended in vehicles, staying well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water (even if you don’t feel thirsty), spending time in air-conditioned areas, taking breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spots, and wearing lightweight, loose, and light-colored clothing to stay cool.
