North Texas could see localized flash flooding over the next 24 hours as another round of heavy rain moves across areas already soaked by recent storms.

Forecasters expect the threat to peak late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, when the heaviest rain moves in from the west and intensifies overnight. The timing could create hazardous conditions for the Wednesday morning commute, especially in areas east of Dallas.

Parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area have already received several inches of rain in recent days, meaning additional rainfall could quickly run off into streets, creeks, and low-lying areas, Fox 4 KDFW reported.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth said a broken line of thunderstorms could move across parts of North and Central Texas Tuesday evening into the overnight hours. The severe weather threat appeared low, though a few storms could produce strong winds, hail, and frequent lightning, according to the agency.

Tuesday Outlook

Isolated showers tracked southwest of the Metroplex on Tuesday morning, while forecasters expected a temporary lull during the day.

Scattered storms could develop later Tuesday, with coverage around 30%, Fox 4 reported.

Tuesday’s high should reach the mid-80s, close to the seasonal average of 87 degrees.

Overnight Storms And Wednesday Commute

Forecasters expect the main disturbance to arrive from the west Tuesday evening and strengthen overnight.

Heavy rain-producing storms could move east across North Texas, raising the risk of ponding on roadways, low visibility, and rapid runoff during the Wednesday morning commute. The Dallas forecast calls for cloudy, humid conditions Wednesday with showers and a heavy thunderstorm possible.

While isolated strong winds and small hail could occur, heavy rainfall remains the primary concern.

Rest Of The Week

The unsettled pattern could continue into the weekend, with daytime highs mostly in the 80s.

Wednesday should be the coolest day, with a high near 80 degrees. Forecasters expect the broader flooding threat to ease by Thursday, though isolated to scattered thunderstorms could remain possible through the weekend.
