Commuters traveling through Frisco should brace for significant traffic disruptions as the Dallas North Tollway undergoes major lane and ramp closures from Monday, August 25, through Saturday, August 30.
The construction work, part of the North Texas Tollway Authority’s widening project, will affect multiple sections of the heavily traveled corridor. The closures come as crews work to expand the tollway’s capacity, a critical infrastructure upgrade for one of North Texas’ busiest roadways. With Frisco’s rapid growth showing no signs of slowing, the widening project aims to ease congestion that has plagued commuters for years.
Multiple southbound lanes will be affected throughout the week. From Monday through Thursday, drivers will encounter closed right lanes between Cotton Gin Road and Stonebrook Parkway, as well as from John Hickman Parkway to Warren Parkway.
The southbound entrance ramp at John Hickman Parkway will also be closed during this period. Additional closures will impact the northbound right lane at Gaylord Parkway and the southbound right lane at PGA Parkway from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily through Saturday.
The construction zone extends beyond the tollway itself. Dallas Parkway will see its own set of lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week, including the north-to-southbound U-turn lane at Panther Creek Parkway.
Both directions of Dallas Parkway will have left lane closures between Warren Parkway and State Highway 121. These closures support widening work, sign installation, final barrier preparation, and pavement marking placement.
Transportation officials urge drivers to exercise caution in work zones or seek alternate routes. The Waze navigation app can help commuters navigate around the construction areas in real time.
