Fort Worth has established its very first veterans affairs coordinator position.
The new position is designed to support local veterans as they transition to civilian life.
City officials created the position to advance services and resources for veterans around the area, describing it as a “significant stride towards prioritizing the needs of veterans, active-duty service members, and their families in the city.”
“We are excited to pioneer this initiative, demonstrating our commitment to those who have selflessly served our country,” said Reyne Telles, chief communications officer for Fort Worth, according to a press release from the city. “The creation of the veterans affairs coordinator position reflects Fort Worth’s dedication to building a more inclusive and supportive environment for our military community.”
The city is currently looking for a “seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in veterans’ affairs” to fill the new position. The ideal candidate will have both an understanding of the challenges faced by veterans as they transition into civilian life as well as a “passion” to provide service to them.
The individual will coordinate with government agencies, veteran service providers, and other entities to create a “seamless network” of support for veterans and their loved ones and find new ways to address the needs of the veteran population.
“From navigating healthcare options to employment assistance and educational opportunities, the veterans affairs coordinator will serve as a dedicated advocate for the wellbeing and success of Fort Worth’s military members,” reads the press release.
Residents and veterans are encouraged to explore the official job listing for the new position and learn more about “the qualifications sought in an ideal candidate.”
