Construction is set to close I-35 in Lewisville on Friday night, and officials are telling the public to seek other routes.

A contractor will be pouring the deck of Lewisville’s new Main Street bridge on FM 1171 from Friday night to Saturday morning, causing closures of I-35E north and south, the Lewisville Police Department posted to Facebook.

“Traffic will be detoured to travel along the frontage roads,” the department wrote. “Significant delays can be expected on the detour route.”

The southbound “main lanes” of I-35E will close from 10 p.m. on August 1 to 1 a.m. on August 2, and the northbound lanes will close from 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. on August 2.

The current Main Street bridge will close from 7 p.m. on August 1 to 10 a.m. on August 2.

Meanwhile, the “managed lanes” will close from 9 p.m. on August 1 to 10 a.m. on August 2.

“Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and to be mindful of workers in the work zone,” the department wrote.

The city previously announced construction would cause overnight closures near the bridge from June 20 to 23, warning of “significant delays.” Contractors demolished the old Main Street bridge in August 2024.
