Collins Aerospace will expand its Richardson operations with a $57 million investment, creating over 570 jobs, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced.

The aerospace manufacturer received a $3.7 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant to support the expansion of its manufacturing and research facilities.

The expansion strengthens Texas’s position as the nation’s leading aerospace manufacturing state. Richardson continues to attract high-tech employers seeking skilled workers and business-friendly policies.

“Texas is ranked as the No. 1 state for attracting aerospace manufacturing,” Abbott said. “This $57 million investment by Collins Aerospace to expand their manufacturing and R&D operations in Richardson will create more than 570 good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans and deliver innovative solutions right here in Texas.”

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business unit, supplies aerospace and defense products globally. Company officials cited state and local support as decisive factors.

“The support from the State of Texas and the City of Richardson made the decision to expand our footprint an easy one,” said Philippe Limondin, Collins Aerospace vice president and general manager for strategic solutions. “The state’s commitment to aerospace and defense is key to our continued success.”

Local lawmakers praised the economic impact.

State Representative Angie Chen Button (R-Garland) called the expansion “a big win for Richardson and North Texas,” adding, “These high-wage, high-skill jobs will boost our economy and create real opportunities for local families.”

Texas Senator Bob Hall (R-Edgewood) emphasized regional benefits, noting the project “reinforces our area’s leadership in aerospace innovation and advanced manufacturing.”

“Texas remains a place where businesses not only thrive but lead,” said Representative Katrina Pierson (R-Rockwall). “I’m proud to see Collins Aerospace expanding in my district, creating quality jobs, and driving innovation through manufacturing and research and development.”

“As we invest in our workforce and infrastructure, we’re laying the foundation for even greater economic success in the years to come,” she added.

Richardson City Manager Don Magner said the expansion aligns with the city’s economic development strategy. He described Richardson as “a hub for research, development, and technology.”

The Texas Enterprise Fund provides performance-based grants for business relocations or expansions. Companies must compete with out-of-state locations and commit to creating jobs through significant capital investment.
