Collin County has been named the best county to live in Texas, according to a new report from Niche — and it also happens to include the fastest-growing city in the country.

The county, located just north of Dallas, topped the Niche 2024 rankings for “Best Counties to Live in Texas” and “Healthiest Counties in Texas.” It also ranked No. 2 in the state for families.

“Collin County is one of the best places to live in Texas. In Collin County, most residents own their homes,” per the Niche report. “There are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many families and young professionals live in Collin County, and residents tend to be conservative. The public schools in Collin County are highly rated.”

The U.S. Census Bureau recently reported that Princeton, a small city within Collin County, is now the fastest-growing city in the United States. Other booming communities in the area — including Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Anna, Celina, and Melissa — also landed in the top 15 nationally, according to Fox 4.

Collin County is currently home to more than 1.1 million residents.

Residents cited strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and a high quality of life as reasons for the area’s growing appeal.

“I’ve been living in Wylie, Texas, in Collin County, for over four years. My experience has been very satisfying compared to living near downtown Dallas and commuting in,” one resident told Fox 4.

“Collin County is more spacious and manicured than some places in Dallas,” they continued. “It’s the dream suburban lifestyle many find desirable. I highly recommend branching out into Collin County to start a family or even start a business.”

Another former student echoed the sentiment, noting the strong education system and community atmosphere.

“There was support in and out of school for a wide range of goals in my future,” they said. “The area has great schools, places to walk, and places to enjoy a night out.”

Collin County encompasses portions of North Texas cities, including Frisco, Allen, McKinney, and Plano, which are renowned for their top-ranked schools, master-planned neighborhoods, and rapid commercial growth.
