Flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) resumed Tuesday morning after a ground stop that lasted until 9:30 a.m.

The nearly three-hour delay created a backlog of flights scheduled to leave and another for those arriving at DFW.

“With storms in the area, we are seeing delays, and more severe weather is possible later today,” DFW tweeted.

DFW advised travelers to check with their airline. Many flights Tuesday morning and afternoon have been tagged as delayed.

Dallas and Tarrant counties were among several in North Texas under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings on Tuesday morning. They expired at 8:30 a.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

A storm that moved through north and downtown Dallas around 6:30 a.m. produced rain, lightning, and hail, NWS Meteorologist Miles Langfeld told The Dallas Express.

The weather service said it had reports of ping-pong-sized hail near Interstate 35 and Heritage Trace Parkway.

“There’s a chance for more severe weather Tuesday afternoon and night,” Langfeld said. “The conditions will be favorable for more large hail.”

Dallas Love Field warned passengers coming to the airport to allow extra time because of power outages. It said in a tweet that the lights were down at Mockingbird Lane, Denton Drive, and Herb Kelleher Way.
