Residents of Allen looking to burn off some calories will soon be able to enjoy a game of pickleball after indulging in rotisserie chicken.

The Farm, a mixed-use development at SH-121 and Alma Road, is set to welcome a Chicken N Pickle location next month when the franchise opens its doors on May 13. The long-awaited Allen location will span nearly four acres at its home at 1221 Johnson Road.

Eight pickleball courts, six indoor and two outdoor, will be available to patrons. The location will also feature dining areas on two levels, a beer garden, a sports bar, and yard games, such as giant Jenga.

Chicken N Pickle traces its origins to Missouri in 2017. The franchise, which is credited for helping bring pickleball to the masses, enjoys backing from investors like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Allen location will mark the third in the Dallas area, joining existing spots in Grand Prairie and Grapevine.

Chicken N Pickle prides itself on sourcing food from local markets wherever it operates. Sandwiches and entrees cost between $10 and $18, with weekday happy hours offering $2 off drinks.

“Known for our wood-fired rotisserie chicken, pulled pork and grass-fed beef sandwiches, creative salads and hand-cut fries, there’s something for everyone in our nest,” reads a description on the franchise’s website.

“We like to think of our concept as the ultimate backyard hangout – one you’ll never want to leave; it’s a space where everyone can connect and celebrate with great food, drinks, and unforgettable moments together,” CEO Brad Clarke said in a statement, per CultureMap Dallas.

Despite having locations in more than half a dozen states, founder Dave Johnson says the company is committed to maintaining strong local connections in every community they operate in.

“We’re confident that Chicken N Pickle will quickly become a must-visit destination in Allen for guests seeking food and fun in a welcoming atmosphere,” said Johnson.

Now, the only question is: Do you eat or play first?
