Investigators determined the victim and several friends were “playing with” a gun before the fatal shot. A teenage boy present during the incident was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

The suspect’s name hasn’t been released due to his age. He was transported to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.

How the teens obtained the firearm remains under investigation. Police haven’t disclosed the gun’s source or whether adults faced any responsibility.

Family members confirmed the victim attended Arlington Martin High School. A small memorial of flowers appeared outside the home on Friday.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Arlington police say their investigation continues.
