A man killed himself after he allegedly shot two people on Thursday, July 14, the Dallas Police Department reported.

Officers responding to a call in the 12000 block of Audelia Road at approximately 12:40 a.m. and found Karla Castillo, 33, and a 14-year-old with gunshot wounds. The two alleged victims were taken to a local hospital, where Castillo died from her injuries. Authorities did not release the identity of the 14-year-old, who police say is now in critical condition at the hospital.

Authorities identified the shooter as Jorge Saldenos Escobar Flores, 44. Flores had allegedly gotten into a fight with Castillo before he shot her and the 14-year-old girl, according to findings of a preliminary investigation. Police did not say what the suspect’s relationship was with the alleged victims or what led to the fight.

Flores allegedly barricaded himself inside the home after the shooting. He was, however, found dead from an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound in the home after detectives executed a search warrant for the apartment and SWAT entered.

Dallas Police added that there were witnesses inside the home at the time of the shooting, but they were not injured. The investigation is still ongoing.
